Possibly no one benefits from the gift-giving frenzy of the holidays as much as the kids. This year there are plenty of great options, from a luxury child’s robe sporting retro fruit or cupcakes (C, $49 and up, www.cherrycupcake.com) to the fun and educational “Dinosaur on Hanukkah” book by local author Diane Levin Rauchwerger (F, $6.95 paperback or $15.95 hardcover, www.karben.com).
J. Crew has some adorable and warm threads for the kids as well, including this super-cute Crewcuts Patchwork Wool Puffer Vest (A, $325, www.jcrew.com).
Sure to evoke squeals of joy is the Hannah Montana Rock Star Dance Mat (B, $19.99, major mass retailers) and the 25th Anniversary Care Bear with Swarovsky crystal eyes and silver-plated accents (E, $19.99, major mass retailers). The special edition Care Bear also comes with a DVD of the first-ever episode of the TV show.
A classic favorite, Lego offers cool toy packages for kids of all ages. Monster Dino (D, $89.99, www.lego.com) is a challenging creative project for kids ages 9 to 12. The roaring and walking creature comes alive with a glow-in-the-dark spine and a remote control.
The palm-size RC helicopter (G, $29.99 to $49.99, www.thinkgeek.com) is perfect for gadget-loving kids who never stop moving.
